Ginny & Georgia season 2: Release date, cast and news
The second season of the comedy-drama has finally landed. **Warning: This article contains spoilers for Ginny & Georgia season 1**
Almost two years since Ginny & Georgia ended with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger in February 2021, the second season of the comedy-drama has landed – and it looks like it was well worth the wait.
Season 1's ending saw Ginny (Antonia Gentry) take steps to escape with her younger brother in tow after discovering her mother had killed her stepfather.
Season 2 picks up shortly after the events of season 1, with Ginny still reeling from the shocking discovery that her mother is a murderer, whilst trying to deal with all the usual teen drama on top of it.
Meanwhile, Georgia (Brianne Howey) is swept up by wedding planning - but is she just using it to avoid her problems?
Netflix previously released first look images (below), showing Ginny sharing a moment with her on-again off-again love interest, Marcus. Meanwhile, Georgia is seen getting cosy with her fiancé Paul.

Ginny and Georgia season 2 release date: When is it coming out on Netflix UK?
Ginny and Georgia season 2 landed on Netflix on 5th January 2023.
Back in September 2022, executive producer and writer Debra J Fisher took to TikTok to confirm that filming on season 2 had wrapped.
"Here's what I know and what I can tell you: we just wrapped. So what does that mean? It will take Netflix 14 weeks to dub Ginny and Georgia into all the non-English speaking languages," explained Fisher via the platform.
"Without getting an official word from Netflix, that takes us to the end of the year."
Netflix announced the second season renewal news via Twitter on Monday 19th April 2021 with a video featuring the show's stars.
"Honestly, we're just so [stoked] and could not wait to share it with you all!" Felix Mallard, who plays Marcus, says in the video.
"This means more surprises, more living room dance parties and more climbing through windows," Brianne Howey, Diesel La Torraca and Felix Mallard added.
The dramedy arrived on Netflix back in February 2021 and quickly shot into Netflix's top 10 thanks to the show's viral popularity on social media.
Forbes reported that in the US, Ginny and Georgia broke a record by holding the number one position on Netflix's top 10 chart for 28 days straight - making it even more popular than 2020 smash hit Tiger King.
Ginny and Georgia season 2 cast
The following main cast members of Ginny and Georgia will be back for the second season.
- Brianne Howey as Georgia Miller
- Antonia Gentry as Ginny Miller
- Diesel La Torraca as Austin Miller
- Jennifer Robertson as Ellen Baker
- Felix Mallard as Marcus Baker
- Sara Waisglass as Maxine "Max" Baker
- Scott Porter as Mayor Paul Randolph
- Raymond Ablack as Joe
- Aaron Ashmore as Gil Timmins
Joining the cast for this new season will be Aaron Ashmore, who according to Deadline will play Gil Timmins, Georgia’s ex and Austin’s father.
Meanwhile, the show wouldn't return without, of course, Antonia Gentry and Brianne Howey as title characters Ginny and Georgia respectively.
Other members of the main cast likely to return include Diesel La Torraca as Georgia's son Austin, Jennifer Robertson as neighbour Ellen, Felix Mallard as Ginny's love interest Marcus and Sara Waisglass as Ginny's best friend Max.
Nikki Roumel will also likely return as a teen Georgia in flashbacks - and she may well be reunited with Kyle Barry as the teenage version of Ginny's dad Zion Miller, with Nathan Mitchell as the adult Zion.
Ginny and Georgia season 2 plot
The official synopsis for the upcoming series reads: “How do you live with the knowledge that your mother is a murderer? That’s what Ginny (Antonia Gentry) is going to have to figure out. Burdened with the new understanding that Kenny – her step-dad – didn’t die of natural causes, now Ginny must deal with the fact that Georgia (Brianne Howey) not only killed, she killed to protect Ginny.”
And according to photos taken from the set, it looks like the second instalment will feature a major wedding.
Images from the set show Georgia (Brianne Howey), the mother in the mother-daughter duo, wearing all-white wedding outfit and clutching a bouquet of flowers, sitting next to Ginny (Antonia Gentry) as they ride off in a white carriage (via Digital Spy).
This would indicate that Georgia and Ginny have made up after Ginny and younger brother Austin (Diesel La Torraca) stole a motorbike and made off with it, leaving Wellsbury behind them.
We can also make a few guesses based on what went down in season 1. As well as Ginny's dad having a bigger role, the show also seemed to be setting up the return of Austin's father, who we now know will join the show played by Aaron Ashmore.
Austin's absences from school never were explained, and the finale reveals that Ginny did post her brother's letters to his dad - which really seemed to freak out Georgia for some reason...
The showrunners hinted to EW that even more of Georgia's murky past will be unravelled - as well as her present, as we should see in season 2 whether her wedding to handsome mayor Paul Randolph (Scott Porter) actually goes ahead without one of her many secrets spilling out.
Of course, Georgia also has other potential suitors in the form of Ginny's dad Zion and cafe owner Joe - with actress Howey telling People: "I would like [Georgia] to tap into her heart and figure out what she really wants."
Who will Georgia end up with? She has a few options in the form of Paul, Joe, Zion, and Paul!
Talking about where season 2 might take Georgia and Ginny, Howey told UsMagazine.com in November 2021: “Ginny is very savvy. She has learned a lot from Georgia and Ginny has her own plan too."
She continued: “They’re not in the best place, but they have been through so much together. And we see a little bit of that in the flashbacks, nothing can take that foundation away from them."
Speaking about all scripts she had read so far, she added: “Everyone is resonating where you want them to. Everyone is super on-brand and it’s hitting and landing in all the same places. It gets dark."
She did, however, add: “[But it’s also] very charming and funny. And then there’s some really sweet moments.”
Ginny actress Antonia Gentry previously teased "a rollercoaster ride" in season 2.
"Even I don't know the full details," she said at the 2021 MTV Awards. "But I am on the edge of my seat. I know it's going to be a full package of just excitement and plot, and craziness."
Talking about the show’s large fanbase, she added: "It's been pretty overwhelming to just know that some of the people that you admire have seen the show and like the show. I know Hailey Bieber has seen our show, and that just makes me sweat. It makes me sweat a little bit.
"But it's very exciting and the support has been really fantastic."
Will Ginny and Marcus get together?
Despite sleeping together in the series premiere, Ginny and Marcus never officially started dating in season 1 - so all eyes are on season 2 to see if the couple finally goes the distance.
However, it may be some time before that happens given that their night of passion completely broke up MANG - Max still hasn't forgiven Ginny for going behind her back with Marcus, and ex-boyfriend Hunter no longer wants anything to do with Ginny after finding out.
]There's also the small matter of Ginny and Austin fleeing Wellsbury on a motorcycle at the end of season 1.
It seems inevitable that the pair will return - but their destination may have pretty big ramifications for season 2.
Series star Antonia Gentry told TVLine: "When she’s packing her bag, she grabs the book that Zion gives her, and if you were paying attention, when Zion arrives and is giving her the book, you know that he included an address.
"He has that secret coded message in it, and she finds out that it’s his address to his Boston apartment. So I’m thinking it’s pretty reasonable to assume that Ginny might be headed toward Zion."
Gentry added when speaking to Us Weekly: “I think they both need to be protected at all costs because I have to see them get back together."
She added: "I hope to see them really encourage each other. They’re so cute. That means I get to work with Felix even more. He’s fantastic.”
Will Ginny and Marcus go the distance?
What else can we expect from season 2?
It seems the complicated mother-daughter relationship between Georgia and Ginny will remain the heart of the show - which could lead to some dark places for 15-year-old Ginny.
Showrunner Debra J Fisher told Entertainment Weekly: "We can't really talk about season 2, but what I will say is, where we always wanted season 1 to end was with Ginny protecting her mom, but by doing so, having blood on her hands."
Gentry echoed the desire to explore the rougher side of her character Ginny, telling Elle: "I want to see Ginny get down and dirty. I want to see her turn into Georgia a little bit. I want to see her really dig in and show that mean streak I know she has."
Is there a Ginny and Georgia season 2 trailer?
